Karl Wentzel Obituary (2022) – Clay, NY

Karl Edward Wentzel II May 25, 2022 Karl Edward Wentzel II, husband, father, Papa, friend, neighbor, and lover of beer, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, surrounded by the family he cherished. Karl, 75, of Clay, was an amazing, loving, and caring husband, father, and papa. He loved spending time with his family, working around the house, sharing a beer or two with friends, neighbors and family and vacations in the Outer Banks. All who knew him would say that he was always willing to lend a hand, a tool or simply an ear. Karl was born on December 10, 1946, in Auburn, NY to the late Karl and Margaret (Nolan) Wentzel. After he graduated from West Genesee High School, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Karl retired from National Grid (formerly Niagara Mohawk) after 40 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William Wentzel. Karl is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Mary Ann Rafferty Wentzel and his children: Karla, Krissy and David; Grandchildren: Katelyn, Marisa, Nikolas, Cassady, Malerie, Cameron, Hayden, and Dillion; Great-grandchildren, Liam and arriving soon, Sophia; his sister, Maryanne Fallek and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd, (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Baldwinsville. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
