The most annoying dating habits according to your star sign

Sadly, you are not perfect (Picture: Getty/

If your dating life has not been going so well recently, it might not all be down to lackluster app experiences and rubbish matches.

We’re sorry to break it to you – but it’s possible you’re not absolutely perfect when it comes to romantic relationships.

Perhaps you’re getting in your own way.

We all have blind spots, and, it turns out, your star sign could reveal the irritating habits, behaviours, and patterns you exhibit that are, frankly, a major turn-off.

Read on to find out your dating downfall, then work out how to get out of your own way and enjoy the brilliant dates you deserve to have.

March 21 to April 20

You get bored faster than any other sign, and you wear your heart on your sleeve.

This means it shows when you’re starting to drift away and think about what adventures or escapades you would rather be up to…

Get a dating ‘game face’ for those (hopefully just brief) moments when you’re not 100% enthralled by your date’s anecdotes, jokes or tales.

April 21 to May 21

Be on time, be alert, be engaged, be there mentally and physically.

Taureans can be, forgive me, a bit lazy and laidback. This has its charm, but on dates it’s vital that you are contributing, talking, and asking stuff, not just lazing about and letting them do all the work, so to speak.

Wake up and show up fully. You are wonderful company… when fully awake.

May 22 to June 21

Of all of the signs, Geminis get the most stick about being bad partners and lovers.

Fickle, disloyal, wandering eyes, argumentative, cold, inconsistent… the list goes on.

Much of this is unfair. A few bad eggs do not an entire star sign make.

That said, Geminis can indeed be fickle, hard to pin down, and tricky. We might say one thing one day, and the opposite the next. It’s not that we’re lying, we can just take in new information and change our mind really fast. People have to work to keep up with a flighty Gemini.

June 22 to July 23

You do enjoy eliciting the sympathy of others and you’ll go to really quite interesting lengths to achieve this.

It’s a side of your personality that almost acts as a test for others, checking how empathetic or willing to protect you they are.

This can get wearing for others, Cancer. Vulnerability and honesty is necessary in any relationship, but sob stories don’t always ring authentic.

July 24 to August 23

They are your date, not your audience, and you’ve got to let them talk. Try to act interested (even if you’re really not, and if you’re not, then don’t make a second date).

You love to shine, impress, entertain and warm the cockles of those you’re dating, but this can come off as overbearing when you turn on the charm too hard, or for too long.

Sit back, relax, let them shine too.

August 24 to September 23

All Virgos have this secret inner pedant, who loves to correct, critique, judge, and prompt. Please don’t do this on a date.

Resist the urge to fact-check dubious statements, or cross-refer to Wikipedia and read the results out loud.

Do it when you get home, alone, and satisfy your pedantic streak in private. It drives people mad.

September 24 to October 23

We all know that indecisiveness is your not-so-secret flaw. You can procrastinate like it’s an Olympic sport – you have decades of practice at it.

Don’t overthink your dates. Make simple decisions about where you’re going, to do what, when, and what you’re wearing, and then stick to it.

Don’t start unpicking every choice or second guessing what they’ve suggested. Just make decisions quickly and firmly, and get on with enjoying yourself. Don’t spiral.

October 24 to November 22

Now, dating is a two-way dialogue kind of thing, and I know you can struggle with that dynamic.

You are more than happy to converse (interrogate?) on topics that are general or about the other person, but less comfortable when the spotlight turns on you.

This can make you look guarded, or even shady and secretive. Open up sooner, and more easily.

November 23 to December 21

You’re the zodiac’s biggest flirt and you can’t help checking out what else is on offer, even if the person opposite you is a dream-come-true.

Flirting is like breathing to you, it’s automatic.

Try to remember not to chat the waiter/bar staff/usher/taxi driver up when you’re with your date, please. Hold it in!

December 22 to January 21

Don’t talk about work! I mean it, Cap, please don’t.

I know it’s important to you, and it’s good to know they have a job, and make money, and have plans but it’s not the be all and end all. This isn’t an interview. You’re not employing them, you’re dating them.

Don’t ask for their ’10 year career plan’. Relax, chill, let your wicked sense of humour out to play instead.

January 22 to February 19

You are lovely, really, but you can act very aloof and like you don’t give a f*** about others, sometimes, because you’re a self-contained and independent person.

You don’t need to share decisions, ask for help, lean on others, entertain or please them.

This is attractive, to a degree, but it can tip over into selfishness and detachment. And then people think you don’t like them (when you really do).

Warm up a bit. Show them you’re interested and that you care.

February 20 to March 20

Don’t be too nice. Don’t apologise for things that are not your fault, simper, back down, offer to pay for everything, overly compliment them, refuse to talk about yourself, and so on.

People will like you, or not, based on your true personality, not a projected façade of ultra-politeness and super-sweet kindness. Show your true colours.

You’re a beautiful person anyway, and you don’t need to overdo it.
